Let's start with the figure that sets the scale of the entire topic. In 2025, viewers of Ukrainian-language channels spent approximately thirty million hryvnias on paid subscriptions. This is the entire subscription market of the Ukrainian segment of the platform for the year. The streamer receives approximately half of this amount, that is, about fifteen million hryvnias in total. Divide this among hundreds of active channels, and it becomes clear why only the most successful Ukrainian-language streamers earn more than one thousand dollars per month from subscriptions. Next, we will examine what the income consists of and how to reach it.
Entry Requirements
The affiliate program has two levels.
The first level opens basic monetization, and for it you need fifty channel followers, a certain amount of streaming over the last thirty days, streams on at least seven different days, and an average of approximately three unique viewers per session. The last criterion is the most difficult, since an average of three simultaneous viewers means that someone has to watch you constantly rather than drop in for a minute. The second level provides better revenue-sharing conditions, faster payouts, and coverage of fees by the platform, but getting there is significantly more difficult. The practical advice from industry materials is that two hours of streaming on a stable schedule are enough to meet the requirements for hours and days over several weeks. The problem is always the viewers, not the hours.
Subscriptions
This is the main source of income for most people. For Ukrainian viewers, a basic subscription costs approximately forty-three hryvnias per month, the second tier approximately eighty-six, and the third approximately two hundred and sixteen. The default distribution is fifty-fifty, meaning that the streamer receives approximately twenty-one hryvnias from a basic subscription. For higher-level partners, the share can increase to approximately seventy percent. Let's calculate. One hundred active basic-tier subscriptions provide approximately two thousand one hundred hryvnias per month. To reach an amount comparable to the minimum wage, approximately four hundred active subscriptions are needed, and this is already the level of a noticeable channel.
Internal Currency
Viewers buy internal units of the platform and give them during a stream. The streamer receives approximately one dollar for every one hundred such units. There is a detail worth knowing here. When purchasing the same one hundred units, the viewer pays approximately one dollar forty, meaning the difference remains with the platform. This means that approximately one-third of the amount from each such gift does not reach you, and for the viewer it is more beneficial to support you in another way.
Advertising
Advertising revenue on this platform is additional rather than primary. According to external estimates, the average streamer receives approximately two hundred and fifty dollars per one hundred subscribers from advertising, but this figure should be treated cautiously, since it comes from the Western market and depends on the geography of the viewers. For the Ukrainian segment, advertising revenue is significantly lower for the same reasons as on other platforms, namely because of lower advertiser rates for our audience. In addition, increasing the amount of advertising directly worsens the viewer experience, meaning this is a case where optimizing income works against channel growth.
Donations Outside the Platform
For Ukrainian streamers, this is often the main source, and the reason is simple. When donating through third-party services or by direct transfer, the platform does not take its share, meaning significantly more reaches you. Technically, this is implemented through specialized donation-receiving services with notifications displayed on the screen or through banking tools for collecting funds. It should be taken into account that regular income of this type is entrepreneurial, and the tax aspect is discussed below. I would also separately note that for some Ukrainian channels, collections have a charitable nature, and this is a completely different category with different rules, so personal income and targeted collections cannot be mixed.
How Much Do They Actually Earn
Now for the specifics of the Ukrainian market. In January 2026, the most successful Ukrainian-language streamers earned approximately from fifty-five to seventy-eight thousand hryvnias per month from subscriptions. This is the top, meaning only a few channels. Practical analysis shows that only top Ukrainian-language streamers earn more than one thousand dollars per month from subscriptions. To understand the lower part of the market, another estimate is useful, according to which one hour of streaming brings from three dollars with a small online audience to several hundred with an audience of thousands of viewers. The lower end of this range at eighty hours of streaming per month gives approximately two hundred and forty dollars, and this is already not an entry-level figure, but a channel with a stable audience. For comparison, the minimum hourly rate in Ukraine in 2026 is approximately fifty-two hryvnias. That is, a streamer with a small online audience earns approximately at the level of the minimum wage while spending full working hours on it.
Payouts
There are several practical points to know in advance. Payment is made once a month provided that the balance exceeds the minimum threshold, which for Ukraine is approximately fifty dollars. For participants at the basic level, payment usually comes with a noticeable delay, approximately up to sixty days, and the streamer covers the payment processing fees themselves. For higher-level partners, payouts are faster and the platform covers the fees. This is one of the reasons why moving to a higher level matters not only because of the percentage.
Where the Money Really Is
The conclusion here is the same as for the other platforms we have written about. The main income of large channels comes from sponsored integrations, that is, agreements with brands for mentions and advertising blocks during streams. The price of such integrations is not tied to the platform's internal mechanics and is negotiated separately, so it can exceed subscription revenue several times over. The second most important source is transferring the audience to other platforms, namely short-video clips, a channel on a video platform, and a community in a messenger, since each of these channels is monetized separately. The third is own products, namely merchandise, paid communities, or educational materials for those who have the relevant expertise.
How Much Time Does It Take
Reaching the basic level of the affiliate program takes from several weeks to several months with a stable schedule. The problem is not the hours, but gaining the first regular viewers, since the average online audience criterion requires an audience that returns. Income comparable to a salary appears for only a few people, and usually not earlier than after one or two years of daily work. It is worth honestly taking into account that this is full-time work, since experienced streamers spend approximately forty hours a week on air.
Taxes
The mechanism is the same as for any other income from similar activity. Systematic income requires registration of entrepreneurial activity, and the third group of the simplified taxation system with a rate of five percent plus the military levy is usually chosen. Income is declared in the full accrued amount, not in the amount remaining after platform and payment-service fees. I wrote more about this in the materials about freelancing and earning on Instagram.
What to Do Practically
Go live on a stable schedule, since predictability is what builds a regular audience. Focus on gaining the first regular viewers rather than on the number of hours. Set up donations outside the platform, since more of the money reaches you there. Make clips for short videos, since this is the main channel for attracting new viewers. Do not increase the amount of advertising with a small audience, since this slows growth. Focus on sponsored integrations as the main goal rather than on the platform's internal mechanics. Register entrepreneurial activity before receiving regular income.
Summary
The entire subscription market of the Ukrainian-language segment amounts to approximately thirty million hryvnias per year from viewers, of which about half reaches streamers, and this amount is distributed among hundreds of channels. Because of this, even the most successful Ukrainian-language streamers earn approximately from fifty-five to seventy-eight thousand hryvnias per month from subscriptions, while most earn significantly less. Therefore, this platform should be viewed not as a source of income in itself, but as a place where an audience is built, since real money comes from sponsored integrations and from transferring this audience to other platforms.
